It’s always great to have a fitness challenge in mind to help you stay motivated and keep variety in your fitness regime. Here are 5 important fitness challenges we recommend you try.
If you have already ticked off a half marathon and want to keep on the running train, consider an off-road run. The softer surface of off-road running reduces the impact on the body while still maintaining the intensity. You’ll get to take in some great scenery as you go.
For those who ride regularly, you already know that nothing beats an early morning ride on the weekend. But the sense of achievement you get when you finish a cycle race is something different again. Cycle challenges are great to do in a team or as an individual.
Practicing yoga regularly can be challenging when you have a busy work schedule. When you’re on a retreat, you’re able to attend multiple classes a day, allowing you to see progress and the positive results more quickly. You will return to everyday life refreshed and more energised.
SQUAT AND PRESS UP CHALLENGE
The squat and press up challenge is perfect for around the workplace. You can set a daily target or simply aim to do as many as you can every day. Our favourite however, is to put on Moby’s ‘Bring Sally up’ song and get into the press-up position. Every time the song says bring Sally up, you press up. Every time the song says, bring Sally down, you lower yourself down into the press up. You have to hold every position until the next instructions… feel the burn!
If you really want to test your fitness and see how you measure up, then compete in the CrossFit games. This five-week, five-work out competition is held in CrossFit affiliates and garage gyms all around the world. Workouts are released online, and you have a week to submit your scores for each workout. You will be able to see how you stack up on the world stage. To compete in the CrossFit Games, you need to have been training at a CrossFit affiliate for at least 3-6 months and given the all-clear from a qualified coach to compete.
