SportsPower Local Legend: Alan Cameron
Our local legend from Merimbula
Alan was nominated to be a SportsPower local legend by Gillian. Here is what Gillian had to say about Alan.
In 1993 Alan won NSW and Australian age group 55 to 59 50 metre Butterfly, 100 metre Butterfly and 200 metre Individual Medley. He was also a member of the 280-year plus Medley Relay Team world record holders and a member of Manly Aussie Masters Swimming Club, whom he supported for many years. Alan was the first over 70’s male winner of the Broulee Bay to Breakers ocean swim and still completes this swim as the oldest competitor in the race. He swims regularly at Bar Beach as a member of the Bar Beach Swimmers and is a true sporting legend.
After that nomination, we wanted to have a further Q&A with Alan to really understand this legend.
